Now….

This is a story all about how

This season got flipped, turned upside down

And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there

I’ll just tell you how this team is Livin’ on a prayer.

Today is 90s night as George Mason takes Southern University in the first game of the Emerald Coast Classic.

This will be the first game back home after brutally losing to Georgia Southern 98-89. HOPEFULLY, we can finally turn this season around and win the first game of the season.

To start, if you didn’t see men’s basketball’s Family Matters video, I highly recommend that you watch it below.

Ok, let’s get into that game preview.

Breaking Down Southern

This will be the first meeting of these two schools, so nothing on which to base this matchup.

After their loss to Louisville, keep an eye out for these three players.

Southern’s “Big Three”

  1. Eddie Reese (Senior) – 12.3 ppg, 2 rpg, .579 FG%
  2. Jayden Saddler 8.3 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 2.0 apg.
  3. Aaron Ray – 8.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.0 apg.

According to the SWAC preseason coaches’ poll, the Jaguars were picked to finish sixth.

Southern is currently 0-3, so let’s take a look at those losses.

  • First, they lost to Alabama by a score of 62-82. Ouch. A 20 point loss.
  • Second, they lost to Baylor by a score of 53-80. Yikess…. An almost 30 point loss.
  • Third, they lost to Louisville by a score of 54-104. Oh boyyy.  A 50 point loss.

Not the best start for the Jags.

Breaking Down Mason

This game is a must win for Mason. The last time we went 0-4 in a season was when Dave Paulsen was in high school.

If we win this game, it would get our engines started and hopefully give us the momentum to win against NC Central on Tuesday and at least challenge the Power 5 opponents we have scheduled for when we travel to Florida.

The last thing I want is for us to lose on Saturday, and lose on Tuesday. It looks like garbage for us when we go up against Cincinnati and Baylor/Ole Miss and we still haven’t WON a game.

I. Want. A. Win.

You’ll get more from me after the first win of the season.

But for now,

That’s all that I’ll say. Smell ya later.
