Man oh man Mason Nation. This team does not like to give our frail hearts a break do they? But that is what has made this team fun to watch this year. The Patriots are a bunch of fighters, never totally giving up in almost every game this year.

Tonight was no different. Even with the team cold from three and the free throw line, Mason was able to get themselves back from a 10 point deficit late in the 2nd half and beat St Joes for the 7th straight time in A10 regular or tournament play.

Josh Oduro once again put the team on his back, putting up 33 points, his best production of the year. He once again dominated the low post against all competition tonight and it was the reason the team got the W tonight.

Xavier Johnson also had another good performance for the Patriots. Johnson had 13 points, with 5 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals on the night. It’s Johnson’s 5th straight game with at least 10 points and it’s now proven that he is this teams starting Point Guard. This is the best stretch of his career and it’s a joy to see him break out.

D’Shawn Schwartz added in a key 18 points and was the clutch go to guy at the end of the 2nd half. Ticket Gaines added 6 points and 7 boards as well.

Jordan Hall led the Hawks with 17 points, with Eric Reynolds getting 16 himself. Taylor Funk was shut down tonight, the only St Joes starter to be held under double digit point totals.

Mason plays in the Bronx at Fordham on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 PM.
