HO HO HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS MASON NATION! Santa Claus (in the form of Coppin State) delivered Mason fans an early present in the form of a blowout win. It’s a nice refresher after that tough loss against ODU on Wednesday and the perfect treat before a Christmas break that goes until we start A-10 play against Richmond to ring in the new year on New Years Eve.

There’s not much to say about the game as a whole. Mason dominated from minute one, and it was very clear halfway through the first half that we were in for a blowout. The threes were falling early, and the gap it opened left Coppin with no chance. Just an all round perfect beating up of a team that we should be beating up. Love it when it happens.

Victor Bailey Jr led the Patriots with 17 points, the third straight game where he’s done so. Bailey was followed by Coop and freshman guard Devin Dinkins (!!!) who each had 15 thanks to multiple three pointers from both. Big man Ginika Ojiako put up 13 in his 10 minutes, while Josh Oduro had a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards (he also had a triple nickel, adding another 5 assists). We also got to see a walk on bucket, with walk on guard Kam Johnson adding in a late layup.

A big win that will hopefully lead to some momentum heading into the second half schedule. Mason starts A-10 play on New Years Eve at home against in-state rival Richmond starting at 2PM. Game will be broadcast on MASN2 and streamable on ESPN+. Let’s stomp on Spidey!
