With July rolling along, recruiting season is in full swing as Coach English and the rest of the staff have been spending most of their weekends on the road, and in gyms up and down the east coast. This is the time of year where some of the major AAU showcases and tournaments take place, and the Green and Gold have been well represented, evaluating prospects, and extending offers to a select group.

One of George Mason’s recent offers in the Class of 2022, is Noah Best, a 6’6 standout from the Bronx, NY (Mount St. Michael/Riverside Hawks). Best, a self-proclaimed “wing”, is a 3-star prospect on both Rivals and 247. He holds offers from George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Illinois, Hofstra, among others, and he has visited Elon, Hofstra, and Fordham thus far.

When asked to describe his game, he wasn’t shy about touting his talent on both ends of the court. “My game would be that I can get to any spot on the floor and shoot there whenever I want. I shoot extremely well off the dribble, and I’m working on the same with my catch and shoot. I like to drive to the basket to create contact and get to the free throw line. Defense is my best attribute about my game.”

Best, and the Riverside Hawks, traveled down to Cartersville, GA this past weekend for Session 1 of the Under Armour Association summer circuit. After posting solid performances over the first couple of days of the event, Noah received a call from George Mason Assistant Coach Dennis Felton, with the conversation resulting in an offer. The following day, Best put on a show against Nebraska Supreme with Coach Felton sitting courtside, scoring 22 points to finish off his impressive weekend.

Best says that he has since heard from the rest of the staff, who all were impressed by his weekend display. “They said I’m exactly what they are looking for, a good scoring wing, that plays hard, that’s vocal, and is great on the defensive end. George Mason is a pretty good fit for me because the coaching staff knows what it takes to get to the next level, which is my dream.” In Coach Kim English, Best will find someone who has been where he wants to be.

As expected, George Mason wasn’t the only school who took notice of his stellar weekend. With his robust list of offers surely to grow, Best says that he is going to take the next few months to visit, evaluate, and potentially make a college decision by the time winter comes around. “Right now every school that has offered me started reaching out to me again because of the big weekend I had. I plan on visiting all my schools that have offered me in July and August. For my commitment, I’ll commit toward my next high school season, in November most likely. I’m looking for a school is who really wants me, who always communicates with me to show me that they really want me at their school. I love good relationships with the staff, and I’ll play in any league because I’m a competitor, and I’ll give it my all wherever I go.

Noah Best will be a name for George Mason fans to monitor over the coming weeks as his recruitment develops. As always, stay up to date with everything on the recruiting front by following @GMURecruiting on twitter.
