On Sunday, George Mason (9-8, 3-1) battled Rhode Island (8-7, 1-2) in what most fans would say was their most complete game of the year.

While I was one to agree with Petey’s thoughts before the game,

I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

In the first half, the Patriots surprised most people posting 38 points on the Rams while going 15-33 from the field and 5-11 from three.

The Rams, on the other hand, shot for 27 points going 12-34 and a “George Mason-esque” 0-11 from three. URI was coming into the game either the 2nd or 3rd worst in 3pt shooting in the Atlantic 10, but this was just…badddd.

Mason had a few moments reminiscent of the Georgia Southern game, but gladly they never came fully into fruition. In the second half, the Patriots scored 46 points going 15-25 from the field and 2-6 from three.

The Rams came as close to 7 points away from tying the score, but Mason put together multiple unanswered runs to prevent any lead changes. In the second half, URI went 15-31 and 3-14 from behind the arc.

George Mason Wins 84-67 over Rhode Island

Some notable things from this game:

MICHAEL JORDAN. Wait, no. JORDAN MILLER. This man is an animal. In the span of one minute, he scored 4 points, had a dunk off of a steal, and a block. He went on to score 14 points and recorded 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Did someone say double-double? Justin Kier most certainly did, he recorded his 6th double-double in the last seven games with 19 points and 10 rebounds in this one. The Kier is on fire.

Javon Greene recorded 15 points in this one going 4-8 from the field, 2-4 from three, and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe. He took some crucial charges in this one.

Otis Livingston II found a stride tonight notching 14 points and dishing 7 assists.

Hey Dave Paulsen, you listening? I want Livingston II, Kier, Wilson, Greene, and MILLER starting against UMass. These guys are THE guys who should now be getting the most playing time together.

In my opinion, this was the best game of basketball the Patriots have played all year, they were consistent through both halves and shutdown the Rams’ offense.

I’m happy. Are you happy?

I know Bryan is happy.

Anyway.

George Mason takes on UMass on Wednesday.

See you then.
