On Friday, George Mason (6-6) hosted Navy (3-7) in the second-to-last game of the Patriots’ non-conference schedule.

As Tyler said,

In the first half, Mason outscored Navy 39-22 going 13-26 from the field, 4-12 from behind the arc, and recorded 21 rebounds.

Navy, on the other hand, failed to shoot over 30 percent going 8-29, 5-12 on 3’s, and recorded 16 rebounds.

The Patriots played well throughout the game and lead by 17 at the half.

In the second half, the Patriots added onto their lead going 16-30 for FG’s, shooting 50 percent, resulting in 45 points. Additionally, Mason recorded 19 rebounds and 6 turnovers.

The Mids stayed with the Patriots for a while scoring 41 points, going 12-31 for FG’s, 4-13 on 3’s, and 15 rebounds. They also recorded 4 turnovers in the second half.

MASON WINS 84-63 TO NAVY

Some notable things from this game:

  • Otis Livingston II went off tonight. He scored 30 points going 11-17 from the field (a new personal record for shots made), 4-8 from three and four rebounds. Livingston is finally playing like his old self again, something all fans appreciate. Check out this clip below:

  • Livingston also was 4 points shy of tying the record for most points at EBA in one game.
  • Justin Kier came second in scoring with 12 points, going 4-12 from the field, and 4-5 from the stripe, and recorded 10 rebounds (all on the defensive glass). Check out his dunk from tonight’s game:

Justin Kier’s first 76 games with Mason saw one double-double.

  • Ian Boyd turned into Steph Curry tonight setting a career high with 4 threes made, and recorded 12 points, registering 7 rebounds.

  • Mason had 34 points in the paint tonight, always a great sign of penetration into the lane.
  • Mason outrebounded Navy 40-31, but only recorded 5 grabs on the offensive glass, however, this could have been due to the fact that the Patriots shot 50 percent through both halves. This was also the third time this season that the Patriots have recorded 40 rebounds.
  • AJ Wilson had back-to-back blocks in the second half, both good heads-up plays.
  • There was great ball movement tonight, the Patriots tallied 18 assists which is always great. Check out this play from the first half.

Question of the game: Otis Livingston finally looks like he’s getting back into his groove and is looking like a first-team A10 player. Do you think he’ll be able to translate this into great performances in conference play? Why or why not?

Let us know why you think that is in the comments below!

Anyway.

Mason’s next game will be on the road against NCAA Tourney team Kansas State on Dec. 29.

See you then.
