California does not just export milk and almonds. Jamal Hartwell, a talented young man is moving cross-country from California to come play college basketball at George Mason in the fall of 2018. Hartwell committed to George Mason on April 6, 2018. Hartwell officially signed his National Letter of Intent to George Mason on April 12, 2018. Before signing his National Letter of Intent, Hartwell also had an offer from Hofstra.  We hope that Hartwell’s transition from high school basketball to college basketball is smoother than the weather transition he will encounter coming from California to the never ending season changer that is Fairfax, Va. Hartwell is a point guard (PG) and will most likely slide into a backup roll his freshman year behind senior Otis Livingston II.

A 3 star prospect out of California, ‘247sports.com,’ has Hartwell as 457th ranked recruit in the nation. He was the 70th PG ranked in the U.S. and 51st overall player from California. Hartwell is a 5’10’’ guard, weighing 160 pounds. Hartwell will most likely hit the gym a become stronger, which can extend the range of his jump shot. His frame makes analysts and scouts agree that he reminds people of Otis Livingston II. George Mason finally has another PG to groom.

Jamaal Hartwell is the second highest recruiting prospect (Goanar Mar – 2017) George Mason has had committed to them since 2015. Hartwell and his crew put together a video of his highlights from 2017. After seeing those highlights, I cannot wait to see Hartwell dominate for George Mason on the court.
