Xavier Johnson committed to staying home. Xavier announced his commitment to George Mason on September 22, 2018.  For those of you who do not know of him, Xavier Johnson is a 6-2, 6-3, 170 pound point guard who averaged 15.5 points and 5.3 assists per game as a junior at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. Xavier, a junior, served as a captain for the first time last season. After his team lost to Bishop O’Connell in the Quarterfinals of the playoffs, he spoke about his captaincy, “Being a captain forced me to actually lead the guys on my team, especially because we had a young group of guys this year. So, I definitely saw confidence in my ability to lead.” After being asked about what he has improved on over the past year, he went on to say, “I think the most improved part of my game over the last 12 months is my aggressiveness on both sides of the floor and also my communication and leadership skills.” (Source – Jake Perper)

In his commitment announcement on Twitter, Xavier thanked his family, God, his coaches, and a special shout out to his father for always pushing him beyond his limits even when there were times it made it difficult for him to continue on. Xavier will finish up his senior year at Episcopal High School and join the Patriots in the fall of 2019. You can find highlights of Xavier’s that were posted in early 2018.
