With just four games remaining in the regular season, George Mason (8-17, 2-10) will host Richmond (12-14, 5-7) to kick off Homecoming Week in Fairfax.

We’re now in the homestretch of the season, and coming off a tough 62-57 loss at George Washington over the weekend, the Patriots will look to rebound against a Richmond team who sits in 9th place, half a game away from the final hosting seed heading into the A-10 Tournament.

George Mason on the other hand has been officially eliminated from reaching a hosting-seed position, and currently sits in 14th place. If Mason ends the season at the 14-seed, then the Patriots will play at either VCU or Fordham (unless something really crazy happens) in the First Round of the A-10 Tournament. If Mason ends up as the 13-seed, then they will face one of eight possible teams that are within two games of being the 4-seed come March.

Here’s a look at the current standings:

As for this game in particular, it’s hard to say what to expect. Admittedly, I’m having a little bit of a tough time getting up for this game. At this point in the year in the position George Mason is in, you’re still playing for seeding, yes, but that is a substantially less important mission now that they’ve been eliminating from hosting a first round game. Instead, you’re playing for pride and for your Seniors. Jacy Bolton, Alexsis Grate, Sarah Kaminski and Allie McCool have all given so much to this team during their four years at Mason, and after tonight, these seniors will have just one more home game left in their career.

This is a game that Richmond has gotta have to keep pace with the rest of the field. This is a game that Mason doesn’t need, but one in which I think they still have a very good chance to win. It just depends on if their offense is there. Go win this for the seniors.

Tipoff from EBA is 7:00 and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+. See you there.
