#MasonGameDay: George Mason vs. Richmond

As the Patriots do damage control, George Mason (12-5, 1-3) will take on Richmond (13-4, 3-1) for the first time this season.

This is going to be a short one today. I’m sorry, I’m just at a loss for words.

This contest will mark the 63rd meeting overall between the Spiders and the Patriots, with Richmond leading the series 37-25. Mason leads the series when in Fairfax, 15-11, and has played horrifically in A-10 play.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Breaking Down Richmond

Richmond is 13-4 this season, the Spiders best record through 17 games since 2010-11 (also 13-4). That year, the Spiders won a school-record 29 games and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Nick Sherod is shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range this season, best in the A-10 and 30th in D-I among qualifiers. Following a career-long streak of five straight games scoring in single digits, Sherod is averaging 16 points per game.

Mason needs defense. Long overdue.

Breaking Down George Mason

Now you see, this is usually where I reference the last game’s stats, turning points, improvements, etc. But I’m really just disappointed in this team.

Losing to GW? C’mon. Mason is better than that.

With the loss to Justin Kier this team is already headed straight for rock bottom (but not necessarily the worst in the conference).

This is bad.

Very bad.

Will the Patriots finish in the bottom four? I don’t even know. It’s possible.

Mason needs some type of winning streak, the schedule isn’t getting any easier.

See you there.

My Prediction: A Mason “L
