On Tuesday, George Mason (9-1) played JSU (2-5) in the first game of their three-game homestand.

The first half was just bleh. It was not great basketball, it was not terrible basketball, it was just… bleh.

The Patriots finished the half scoring only 28 points, going 10-28 from the floor, 3-8 from three, and recorded 22 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 turnovers.

JSU stuck with the Patriots throughout the first half, they recorded 29 points, going 12-30 from the field, 3-9 from behind the arc, and recorded 19 rebounds, 4 assists, and only 4 turnovers.

JSU should not have had the lead going into halftime. The Patriots played down to their opponent and played some not good basketball.

In the second half, George Mason scored 39 points, going 16-32 from the field, 2-7  from three, and recorded 23 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 turnovers.

For JSU, they scored 31 points, going 14-35 from the field, 3-14  from three, and recorded 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 turnovers.

GEORGE MASON WINS 67-60 AGAINST JSU

Here’s a couple takeaways from this one:

Like the basketball in the first half, the energy in EBA was incredibly meh, seemed like people didn’t want to be there. We should really step it up.

AJ Wilson did not start this game. This hurt Mason’s offensive out of the gate. He finished with 11 points, going 5-9 from the floor, and recorded 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 6 blocks. He also had a couple of dunks like this:

Jordan Miller was the highlight of the night, in the first three minutes of the game, he recorded a three, an and-1 and a steal. He finished the night with 19 points, going 8-13 from the field, and recorded 5 rebounds.

There were so many turnovers (13) and airballs tonight from Mason, I know it’s close to Christmas, but we really shouldn’t be airmailing gifts to other teams.

Javon Greene also led the team in rebounds (9), glad to know someone was getting the basketball in the defensive end. He should not be the one the Patriots rely on for their defensive rebounds. He ended the night with 13 points, going 4-11 from the floor, and recorded 4 assists and 3 steals.

Xavier Johnson led the team in assists with 8, that was his only good stat of the night. He struggled to get in the paint and driving to the basket. Let’s hope he figures things out.

Mason plays American this Saturday.

Be there.
