GEORGE MASON BEAT VCU 72-67!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew, where to start…

Mason actually started this game as good as anyone could’ve hoped for and then some. Ten minutes in, George Mason went on an 11-0 run to take a 19-11 lead, all the while shooting 64% while holding VCU to just 32%.

Then Havoc happened.

Mason went over five mintues without a field goal, and their lead evaporated quickly. The Patriots turnover total climbed to 11, as VCU finished the half on a 22-11 run, to lead 33-30 at the half.

The second half began with a 6-0 spurt from Mason, and I sat there thinking, well, that’s nice.

Play evened out for a few minutes, and I prepared for what seemed the inevitable.

Then a SIXTEEN-NOTHING RUN HAPPENED. AJ Wilson hit a three.

Jamal Hartwell II hit a THREE.

George Mason led by as many as 15, which matched VCU’s largest home deficit of the entire season.

VCU responded with a 4-0 VCU spurt to cut it to 58-45, but George Mason would stand their ground.

Even when VCU had a late 10-2 run, George Mason had an answer.

Even when VCU cut it to four points with 16 seconds left, George Mason had an answer.

It’s easy to say “WHERE THE HELL HAS THIS TEAM BEEN???” but we will absolutely take this win!!!

Oh yeah, AJ Wilson did the thing too:

I don’t know what to say. They looked like world beaters. They almost blew it. BUT THEY DIDN’T!!!

*Exhale*

We’re gonna enjoy this one for a while!!!
