George Mason Edges Past UMass for Second A-10 Win

On Wednesday, George Mason (13-6, 2-4) took on UMass (7-12, 1-5) in the final game of this homestand. 

In the first half, Mason held the lead. That lead was no more than 7 points. Mason held the lead till about the 5-minute mark then UMass took hold. The score at the half, 29-26 UMass. Mason finished this half going 10-30 (.333) from the floor, 1-8 from behind the arc, and 5-7 from the charity stripe. 

Additionally, the Patriots recorded 20 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and 6 turnovers. UMass led for only 3 minutes of the entire half. But it was the three minutes that mattered. 

The Minutemen, on the other hand, had about the same performance. They finished going 9-23 (.391) from the floor, 6-11 from three and recorded 16 rebounds, 5 assists, and 8 turnovers. 

In the second half, UMass took control until about the 6-minute mark when the Patriots went on a 14-5 run. Mason finished the second half with 46 points, going 13-30 from the field, 2-5 from three, and recorded 25 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 turnovers. 

UMass’ second half was the opposite of their first-half performance but came up short. They finished with 28 points going 10-29 from the floor, and 3-5 from behind the arc. Additionally, the Minutemen grabbed 16 rebounds and tallied 6 assists. 

GEORGE MASON WINS 73-63 OVER UMASS

Some things from this one:

Josh Oduro finally had a breakout game in this one. He finished with 11 points going 3-7 from the floor and recorded 4 rebounds. 

AJ Wilson finished with disappointing 7 points; he was 2-15 from the floor, 0-3 from three, and recorded 12 rebounds (3 Off, 9 Def). 

Javon Greene finished the game scoring a whopping 32 points, going 9-17 from the field, 1-4 from behind the arc, and dished out 2 assists.
