On Sunday, George Mason (14-10 8-3) took on La Salle (7-15, 5-5) in what came to be a closely fought contest.

In the first half, La Salle outscored Mason by 2, going 15-28 from the field, 5-12 from three, and recorded 12 rebounds, and 8 turnovers. The Explorers were perfect from the line in this half going 4-4 and performed well through the first 20 minutes.

Jamal Hartwell II, who missed the last two games with a knee injury, was back in the lineup for the Patriots. After 20 minutes, the Patriots finished with 37 points going 14-28 from the field, 4-7 from behind the arc, grabbed 15 rebounds, and recorded only 3 personal fouls.

During the next 20 minutes, the two teams were trading shots for the majority of half, with Mason coming out on top scoring 47 points. The Patriots went 15-29 from the field, 1-3 from behind the arc, and grabbed 21 rebounds.

The Explorers dolled out 37 points shooting 13-29, 6-15 from three, and recorded 11 rebounds. La Salle was hot from three, with Tracy Carter and Saul Phiri each dropping two in this half.

GEORGE MASON WINS 84-76 OVER LA SALLE

Some notable things from this one:

After the first half, Justin Kier had not attempted a shot. He finished the game 5-9 from the field, and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Javon Greene came up clutch tonight scoring some major three pointers. He went 3-6 from behind the arc and led the team with a career-high 21 points. He was also perfect from the charity stripe going 6-6.

Jarred Reuter is starting to stay consistent. Let’s just say I’m not as scared as I was when he went for a hook shot or drive to the basket. He finished the night with 16 points and 5 rebounds.

Four players tonight made it to double figures in this one, and Jordan Miller finished with 8 points on 4-7 shooting adding a nice dunk:

One thing that perplexed me was why Mason was leaving, Saul Phiri, one of the best 3-point shooters in the A10 open on multiple plays. He finished the night with 5 treys.

Mook agreed:

It’s great that the Patriots are back on track, hopefully we can grab at least 13 wins in conference to secure a double-bye.

Anyway.

George Mason takes on UMass on Wednesday which will be interesting.

See you then.
