#MasonGameDay George Mason vs. Baylor

In the final day of the Emerald Coast Classic, George Mason (2-4) will take on Baylor (3-2) in the 3rd place game.

This will be the second of three Power-Five schools Mason will face in their non-conference schedule.

Breaking Down Baylor

The Bears were picked to finish ninth in the conference according to the Big 12 preseason poll.

There is nothing to compare this matchup to as it is the first time these schools have met. However, Baylor is 39-11 against first-time opponents under head coach Scott Drew.

Since December 2014, the Bears are 39-2 in regular-season non-conference games against unranked teams.

Baylor is 18-1 when leading at halftime since the start of the 2017-18 season (3-1 this season). Mason will have to put up a decent fight for the lead in the first half to have a chance at this one.

Baylor’s Big Three:

  1. Devonte Bandoo (14.5 ppg, 8-18 3FG)
  2. King McClure (15.3 ppg, 55.8 FG%)
  3. Tristan Clark (13.8 ppg, 82.9 FG%)

Breaking Down Mason

Mason will look to get back on track with a win against Baylor in this final game of the Emerald Coast Classic.

After last night’s unsurprising loss to Cincinnati, turnovers and inconsistent shooting were the main issues that occurred.

Jim McConnell basically summed up my thoughts from last night:

I’m still hoping for DP to figure out these lineups before conference play.

Check out the recap from last night’s game below.

Mason heads back to EagleBank Arena on Wednesday for their matchup against Morgan State.

I’ll talk more in my recap, but for now…

See ya then.
