George Mason played Cincinnati last night in the semi-finals of the Emerald Coast Classic.

After a surprisingly close first half, Cincinnati pulled ahead in the second half.

Similar to Petey,

I don’t have much to say.

Nobody thought coming into this game that Mason would stand a chance against Cincy, but nonetheless the Patriots put up a decent fight for parts of the game.

In the first half, the Bearcats scored 32 points, going 12-27 on FG’s, 1-4 on three’s, and recorded 17 total rebounds.

Mason recorded 23 points, going 9-22 on FG’s, 4-11 on three’s, and recorded 10 total rebounds.

Mason also had 10 turnovers, 8 fouls, and went 1-4 on FTs. Not good.

In the second half, the Bearcats scored 39 points, going 15-26 on FG’s, 1-3 on three’s, 6 turnovers, and 16 rebounds.

The Patriots scored 32 points, going 13-28 on FG’s, 3-12 on three’s, 10 rebounds, and 6 turnovers.

PATRIOTS LOSE 71-55 TO CINCINNATI

Some notable things from this game:

Otis Livingston II made his first three of the season. He’s currently 1-14 from behind the arc through 6 games. Also it seems he’s getting to foul trouble a lot more, something that definitely limits his playing ability. Here’s a nice move he made in the final minutes:

Javon Greene started today over Justin Kier, Greene was the only Patriot to register double-digits in points (11), with Otis coming close with 9.

After his breakout game, Jarred Reuter basically disappeared, only scoring 6 points, registering 0 rebounds, and went 2-6 from behind the stripe.

During this game Mason went 4-11 from the foul line. 4-11. Mason should be shooting at least double that.

As I said on twitter.

There were times during the game that Mason played incredibly well, however, those moments only last for at most 4 minutes. As @jmcconnell70 said,

After the game Petey pointed out two issues;

Both of which have to be fixed when Atlantic 10 play comes around.

Mason will play Baylor at 4pm tomorrow in the 3rd place game.

See you then.
