On September 4th, the Mystics announced that they would be playing Game 3 and Game 4 (if necessary) of the WNBA Finals at George Mason’s own Eagle Bank Arena.
The reason for the relocation from the usual Capital One Arena in DC is because of their ongoing renovations this summer. However, for the start of their postseason games, the Mystics have been playing at George Washington University’s Charles E. Smith Center; this would have likely been the location for the Finals, except for the fact that there was a scheduling conflict.
The Washington Mystics are currently down 0-2 to the Seattle Storm after Sunday’s 75-73 loss. In this five-game series, Elena Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart have dueled it out to be the top player in these Finals. I can’t wait to see these two teams continue to battle it out on the court.
In addition to the players listed above, other players to keep an eye out for would be Sue Bird (Seattle), and Kristi Toliver (Washington). All of these players have played well throughout these last two games and throughout the playoffs.
Doc Nix & Green Machine will NO LONGER be there at both games to play, due to logistical concerns and spacial limitations at Eagle Bank Arena.
The games will be Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 8:00pm and (if necessary) Friday, Sept. 14 at 8:00pm (Mystics must win on Wednesday). General admission tickets are $20 for the public and $5 for Mason Students, Faculty, and Staff (These are available at the EagleBank Arena box office and Mason ID is required at time of purchase.)
