George Mason comes of a 2-1 trip to Charleston and head to Riverdale, New York to face the Manhattan Jaspers. The Jaspers lost their home opener to division II school, Adelphi, 86-89. The division II loss was followed by two more losses by at least 12 points; against Saint Mary’s College and Bucknell. The Jaspers will be hungry for their first win so they should not be overlooked.
Player(s) To Look Out For:
#0, Shane Richards:
The lead scorer for the Jaspers averaging 26 points per game and shooting 40% from the field. Shane is also a threat from outside the arc; shooting 47% from the outside. If Mason can nullify Shane. He has had 3 and 4 fouls in his last two games respectively. Since the second leading scorer averages 13 points less than Shane, any kind of foul trouble for Richards would be bad news for the Jaspers.
WildCards:
#2, Ak Ojo:
UVA double teamed Shevon Thompson with big men to try and nullify him. The Jaspers could attempt to try to do the same along with Carlton Allen Jr. — who are both 6′ 10”. Unlike Carlton, Ak has not fouled out of a game so, but Ak hasn’t really done much offensively besides missing two free throws and an offensive rebound. He is just a freshman so who knows, he could have a good game tomorrow.
