During the Patriot Premiere this past Friday, an event held at EagleBank Arena to welcome incoming freshmen to campus during “Welcome Week”, Dave Paulsen spoke to the class of 2019. He talked about how important students are to the basketball program and how he wants the basketball team to be involved in the George Mason community. Dave also introduced the freshmen on the basketball team.
The biggest take away from his speech to the largest freshmen class in George Mason history was that he asked them to help make EagleBank Arena the hardest place to play in the “league [A-10]” Bringing back the home court advantage to George Mason is important, period. Many students are already working towards creating that with a revamped student-led, Patriot Platoon, the official student section of Mason Athletics, who have recently unveiled their new soccer-specific shield variation of their logo for Mason soccer season. It’ll be interesting to see how the student body reacts to this new era as basketball season approaches.
