Therence Mayimba, seen playing as #6 on the Gabon Men’s National Basketball team, is in Tunisia for the FIBA Afrobasket 2015 tournament. Gabon has lost both of its two games; 96-49 vs Egypt, 54-78 vs Mali. Considering Gabon is participating in the Afrobasket tournament for the first time in a decade, the results aren’t surprising.

Mayimba played for 32 minutes during the game against Mali, where the image above was taken. During those 32 minutes, Mayimba scored 6pts and made 4 rebounds — 2 offensive and 2 defensive. Mayimba didn’t do too well scoring; 1 of 7 field goals (only making 1 of 5 3pt attempts) but, was 3 of 8 from the free throw line. All things considered, this isn’t a good sample of what Mayimba can really do but, it is still nice seeing he’s playing competitive basketball.
He is still listed as a player on the GoMason.com roster and on FIBA with George Mason as his “club team”. We have reached out to Athletics about the eligibility status of Mayimba but, they “have no news from the NCAA”
