This is a continuation of a series where I write a brief synopsis of players offered scholarships by George Mason University. In this article, we will discuss Toumani Camara.

We have a Belgian prospect (got waffles?!) Born in Bruxelles, Toumani Camara (incredible name btw) is a 6’6”, 200 pound small forward, who currently resides in Hollywood, Florida. As of this writing, Toumani has a plethora of offers at the moment; 23 to be exact, including our George Mason University.

Being born in Belgium allowed Toumani to play in FIBA (International Basketball Federation) junior team events. Toumani played in 2016 in the U16 Euro Championships B. If you are unfamiliar with FIBA, There are 24 coutries that participate in the U16 Euro Championships, Division B. At the time, Toumani was 6’4” and played against the best young talent in all of Europe. Toumani averaged 2.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, across 8 contests.

Adidias hosts a #gauntletseries where the company showcases elite boys and girl basketball teams from around the nation. During the summers, new unknown prospects poke their heads out; Toumani Camara being one of them. Camara exploded onto the scene, averaging 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. In a post game interview, Camara went on to say, “It was a good summer with a new program. It was my first time on a circuit. I like it a lot. I think I’m very versatile and I can do a lot of different things. I can get to the basket, or I can defend guards or bigs and I can shoot it too.”

Camara also excels in the classroom with a 3.5 GPA. Hopefully Toumani does not waffle too much and commits early to becoming a George Mason Patriot.

*disclaimer – I know Belgian waffles originated in France, not Belgium.
