Karmari Newman and DeAndre Abram have found new homes within the Horizon League, a 10 team mid-major conference.

Karmari Newman who along with Troy Temara recently announced his release from the Mason Men’s Basketball program. He will be playing closer to home at Oakland University in Michigan (Fun Fact: Oakland was established the same year as UVA’s then satellite campus George Mason College). The Grizzlies went 25-9 last season, losing to A-10 member Richmond in the second round of the NIT. Oakland will have a tough schedule this season playing Kentucky and Syracuse on the road.

DeAndre Abram will transfer to UW-Milwaukee, also a Horizon League member. Milwaukee had a tough season last year, finishing 11-24. Milwaukee has yet to release their 2017-2018 schedule but will face non-conference opponents like Iowa State and others as they look for another winning season like back in 2015.

We wish Karmari and Abram the best of luck at their new schools.
